Tintin in Vietnam

So, my wife and son go to Vietnam for almost two weeks, and what do I get? Yes, that’s right, folks, I get a bunch of knock-off Tintin merch. Though, I do have to say that the quality is pretty awesome.

Apparently, this is an inside joke. Hanoi is famous for the quantity of electrical and telephone wires dangling throughout the city. I also like the star they added on Tintin's jumper.

My son even got a T-Shirt...

A hanging for my office wall.

Tintin in Japan

Tintin is hitting Japan. Of course, they have to wait for the movie too. But at least they can read the books in the meantime!

Tintin the Dog has some fancy clothes for your pooch.

I know Snowy wears some dashing outfits, but do you think he’d go for these? Couture dog clothing from TinTin Et Oliver.

Perhaps Snowy would like the Limited Edition TinTin Dog Shirt.

Somehow, I don’t see my rescue hound wearing one of these. Maybe The Bailey, the girl version, also in Liberty Print.

Want to find out what TinTin is up to these days? Oh yes, he has a blog.

TinTin shares recipes, costume ideas, and travel plans should you like to visit TinTin in France.

Of course, then they go for the hard sell with cutie pie virtual postcards of TinTin and Oliver.

The real question? What do you think Captain Haddock would have to say about all of this?

Tozo, webcomic, draws inspiration from Tintin

I’m surprised i haven’t come across this before, but delighted to learn of Tozo: The Public Servant, a webcomic by David O’Connell, (Thanks for the tip io9!)

A murder mystery in the spirit of Tintin, the comic is the story of Detective Inspector Tozo. When Tozo  “is asked to investigate the murder of an employee of the Financial Exchange, he has little idea that the trail will lead him into a shadowy and deadly world of political intrigue, smuggling and religious conspiracy.” O’Connell started the series when he was in his teens and credits Herge as one of his influences.

It’s definitely the kind of thing I could see sending me down the internet rabbit hole, catching up on all installments. A good murder mystery is just the thing for snuggling up on a cold winter day.

Of course, if the web comic isn’t your style, you can purchase the first four chapters in a collection to read over and over again, just like your favorite Tintin book.
